What is Higher Ed Med?
Though no parent likes to think about it, your child might get hurt or sick far from home during their time in college. Typically, UGA students will call the UGA Health Center for appointments or try to get appointments at urgent cares for routine healthcare needs. This can often be extremely frustrating and costly for students and parents alike.
Higher Ed Med offers patient advocate services to college students. Members will receive services either in-person or through a HIPAA approved virtual service. These services are delivered by Dr. Chisolm and his staff to assist, consult, and treat the student when they need help the most.
Members pay a flat fee for a diagnostic routine exam and year-long ongoing communication in support of our exam services. This gives students a convenient and reliable healthcare solution for chronic medical conditions, sick care, and mental health support while they are away at school without worrying about copays or additional charges. These visits include in-person visits or a HIPAA-approved virtual service.
Our goal is to cater to college students seeking medical attention in a simple and high quality way. Our service helps eliminate the time constraints of a typical medical practice and establishes a true relationship between patient and doctor. We want to spend more quality care time with patients when they need it via phone calls, email, text, video visits, and in-person.
In addition to convenience, this system empowers the student to learn how to take care of their healthcare needs and to be more proactive about his or her health. We are here to help establish healthy lifestyles for all college students and to help them address all of their healthcare needs.

HOW DO I CONTACT THE DOCTOR?
Convenience and simplicity is our goal. Whenever you need to speak to your doctor or his staff, simply click on the “Member Portal” on the website. Fill out a request on the Portal, and you will receive a call shortly thereafter.
Why do we keep a small panel of patients?
Higher Ed Med keeps a small panel of patients to ensure fast personalized attention to your college student.
We recognize the unique healthcare needs of college students, who are often navigating their health independently for the first time. In addition to providing prompt care for illnesses and minor injuries, we offer comprehensive support for mental health, lifestyle guidance, preventive care, and health education.
Our goal is to help students not only recover when they’re sick, but also build lifelong habits for well-being, manage stress, and make informed decisions about their health.
We will be here for students when they need us the most.
